Do I Need to Rewrite All My Content for GEO?
No. Most sites do not need a full rewrite. A small set of pages, usually the ones that answer specific buyer questions like comparisons, pricing, and "who is this for" pages, do most of the work of getting cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. The rest of your site can stay as it is while you focus effort where it counts.
Start with an audit, not a rewrite
Run the questions your buyers actually ask through ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity and note which of your pages, if any, seem to be feeding the answers you get. That tells you which pages are already pulling weight and which topics have no page working for you at all.
Pages worth rewriting
- Comparison pages against named competitors, since models get asked "X vs Y" constantly
- Pricing and plan pages, since cost is one of the most common follow up questions
- Homepage and about page, since these often anchor how a model describes what you do
- Any page currently vague, thin, or written mostly for search engine keywords instead of a real reader
Pages you can usually leave alone
Long form educational content that already answers a question clearly, case studies with real numbers, and documentation that is already specific and well structured tend to work fine as is. If a page already reads clearly to a person with no prior context, it will usually extract well for a model too.
How to prioritize the work
Fix the highest traffic or highest intent pages first, then work down the list. A rewrite is not "add more keywords," it is making the page state facts plainly, with real numbers and clear headings, instead of marketing language that a model has nothing concrete to extract.
