What Content Changes Do I Need for GEO?

Most of your existing content does not need a rewrite. The changes that matter most are structural: answering specific questions directly near the top of a page, using clear headings a model can extract from, backing claims with real numbers or sources, and making sure your best pages are not buried behind navigation or thin category text.

Structure before wording

Models tend to pull the clearest, most directly stated answer available. Lead with a direct answer to the implied question in the first sentence or two of a section, then explain the reasoning after, instead of building up to the point slowly.

The specific changes worth making

  • Add a short, direct answer near the top of any page that responds to a real question, before the background and context
  • Break long paragraphs into shorter ones with clear headings, which extract more cleanly than dense blocks of text
  • Replace vague claims with specific numbers, dates, and named sources wherever you have them
  • Add sections that answer the exact questions your buyers actually ask, in their own words
  • Make sure your most important pages are not orphaned, and link to them from other relevant pages on your site

What you probably do not need to change

Your brand voice, your overall site design, and most of your existing evergreen content that is already clear and accurate. Do not throw out content that already works well for human readers and for Google.

How to prioritize
